Mitel vs RingCentral: 2026 VoIP Comparison

This is not the comparison most buyers expect. Mitel's cloud product runs on RingCentral's platform, so the real question is not which platform is better. It is what the Mitel layer adds, and what it costs you.

RingCentral
The platform underneath both

Our view

If you are running Mitel on-premises today and you need the migration tooling, the hospitality integrations, or your existing Mitel partner, MiCloud Connect is the smoother road. Everyone else should go to RingCentral directly. It is the same platform underneath, and the extra layer buys you very little if you were not a Mitel shop to begin with.

First, the thing nobody tells you

Mitel and RingCentral are partners, not rivals, in the cloud. Mitel's cloud offering runs on RingCentral's platform. The infrastructure is RingCentral's, the feature set is RingCentral's, and the admin portal is a RingCentral portal with Mitel branding on it.

That changes the question completely. You are not choosing between two engineering teams, two networks, or two roadmaps. You are choosing whether to buy the same platform through Mitel or from RingCentral. Most published comparisons of these two miss this entirely and grade them like separate products.

One important exception. Mitel's on-premises and hybrid systems, such as MiVoice Business, are a genuinely separate product line and have nothing to do with RingCentral. If you are comparing an on-premises Mitel system against cloud RingCentral, that is a real platform decision and the table below is the wrong one to use.

Published list pricing on the RingCentral side runs $20/user/month at Core, $25 at Advanced and $35 at Ultra. Negotiated rates run 15 to 25% lower through Bridgepointe. Mitel cloud pricing is quoted per partner rather than published, which is itself worth knowing before you compare offers.

Where each one wins

Mitel wins when…

  • You are migrating off MiVoice Business or another Mitel on-premises system
  • You run hotels or senior living and need property management system integration
  • Your Mitel partner knows your environment and you want to keep that relationship
  • You have Mitel handsets and contracts you need carried across rather than replaced

RingCentral wins when…

  • You have no Mitel estate to migrate, which makes the middle layer pure overhead
  • You want one vendor on the contract, the support line and the roadmap
  • You need deep Salesforce or ServiceNow integration and native contact center
  • You want the wholesale rate rather than a partner-specific quote
Our recommendation

Ask what the Mitel layer is costing you.

Because the platform is the same, this decision comes down to one number. Put the Mitel cloud quote next to a direct RingCentral quote at wholesale rates. If the gap is small and you need the migration tooling, take Mitel. If the gap is real and you have nothing to migrate, there is very little reason to pay for the middle.

Pick Mitel if…

You are coming off Mitel on-premises, you need MiVoice migration support or hospitality integrations, and the pricing gap is small.

Pick RingCentral if…

You have no Mitel estate, you want a direct contract and support line, or you want the platform at wholesale without a second layer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mitel the same as RingCentral?

Mitel's cloud product, MiCloud Connect, runs on RingCentral's platform under a partnership between the two companies. The underlying infrastructure and feature set are RingCentral's. Mitel's on-premises systems such as MiVoice Business are a separate product line and are not RingCentral.

Should I move from Mitel on-premises to MiCloud Connect or to RingCentral directly?

If you need Mitel's migration tooling, hospitality PMS integrations, or want to keep your existing Mitel partner relationship, MiCloud Connect is the smoother path. Everyone else is usually better served going to RingCentral directly, because you get the same platform without the extra layer between you and the vendor.

Is Mitel cheaper than RingCentral?

Not reliably. Pricing on the Mitel cloud path varies by partner and is generally comparable to RingCentral rather than cheaper. Because it is the same underlying platform, a direct RingCentral quote at wholesale rates is worth getting before you sign either one.
