Mitel's cloud offering is a rebranded RingCentral. It exists to migrate Mitel's legacy on-premises base, not to win new business. Our take: most buyers should skip the middle layer and go RingCentral direct.
MiCloud Connect is Mitel's cloud UCaaS product and it runs on RingCentral's infrastructure. Mitel and RingCentral entered a partnership that mirrors the Avaya Cloud Office arrangement. Mitel resells RingCentral's platform under its own brand, with Mitel's support and migration layer on top. In practice that means you are buying RingCentral with an extra organization between you and the platform.
We don't recommend it for most buyers, and we don't quote it. Mitel's strategy since going private has centered on managing its installed base rather than competing for new customers, and the cloud product reflects that. If you have no Mitel history, there is no reason to take on the extra layer: RingCentral direct gets you the identical platform with better pricing access and a cleaner support path. The narrow exception is hospitality and other Mitel on-prem shops with deep PMS integrations, where the migration tooling has real value.
Mitel was taken private by Searchlight Capital Partners in 2022, and in March 2025 the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to restructure roughly $1.3 billion in debt. It emerged in June 2025 under the ownership of its former lenders. The balance sheet is healthier now, but the episode underlines where things stand: Mitel's focus is managing a declining on-prem base, not investing in a competitive cloud product. Buyers should weigh that trajectory carefully before signing a multi-year agreement.
We don't quote Mitel. Since MiCloud Connect is RingCentral underneath, we quote RingCentral direct instead. Same platform, wholesale pricing, one less layer between you and support. Get a RingCentral quote and compare it against any Mitel migration offer you've received.
