Both sell a cheap entry plan and a pricier upper tier. The real differences are how the price moves as you grow and where your people call. 8x8 steps its published rate down at every seat band and bundles calls to other countries into the plan. Vonage holds one flat rate at every size and bills calls abroad separately.
8x8 lists higher at five seats and lower at a hundred. A small team that lives in the apps pays less on Vonage Mobile at $19.99. But Mobile has no video, no desk phone support and no CRM. The fairer match for 8x8 X2 is Vonage Premium at $29.99, and X2 lists below it at every seat count. The bigger split is international calling. X2 already includes 14 countries and X4 includes 48. On Vonage, anything outside the US and Canada costs extra. If nobody on your team calls abroad, that 8x8 advantage is worth nothing to you, and the choice comes down to seat count and whether you need a CRM on the mid plan.
Published annual list prices, per user per month, before taxes. Both providers' figures were last verified on June 7, 2026 and are broken down band by band on our 8x8 pricing page and Vonage pricing page.
| Seat count | 8x8 | Vonage |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 5 seats | X2 $28, X4 $57 | Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 |
| 11 to 24 seats | X2 $24, X4 $52 | Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 |
| 25 to 50 seats | X2 $22, X4 $48 | Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 |
| 51 to 100 seats | X2 $20, X4 $44 | Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 |
| 101 to 250 seats | X2 $19, X4 $42 | Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 |
| 500 or more seats | X2 $17, X4 $38 | Mobile $19.99, Premium $29.99 |
| Volume discount on list | Yes. The published rate steps down at every band | No. The list rate is flat at every seat count |
| Month to month | About 20% more than annual | Not published. We estimate 15% to 20% more |
| Typical negotiated range | About 11% to 40% off list | About 6% to 50% off list |
Read that table by plan, not by headline. Vonage Mobile is the cheapest row until about 100 seats, and it is also the thinnest plan on the page. 8x8 X2 includes video, a full auto attendant and calling in 14 countries, so the like-for-like Vonage plan is Premium. Vonage also sells an Advanced tier above Premium with call recording and call queues. We have no verified list figure for it, so we quote it rather than print a number we cannot stand behind.
At list, 50 seats on 8x8 X2 is $1,100 a month. The same 50 seats on Vonage Premium is $1,499.50, so the list gap is about $400 a month. Negotiated, most of that gap disappears. X2 at 50 seats usually lands between $810 and $870 a month, and Premium between $830 and $920. Vonage Mobile at 50 seats is $999.50 at list and lands closer to $700 to $760. The list price picks the wrong winner more often than it picks the right one, so get both quoted.
This is where the two differ most. 8x8's own help center article, Calling Countries for X-Series Licenses (updated April 20, 2026), lists the countries each plan can call without per-minute charges, subject to 8x8's fair-use policy. The Vonage column comes from our Vonage pricing page.
| Calling | 8x8 | Vonage |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan | X2: unlimited calling within 14 countries, including the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and the UK | Mobile: unlimited calling in the US and Canada |
| Upper plan | X4: unlimited calling within 48 countries | Premium: unlimited calling in the US and Canada |
| Calls to mobiles abroad | For 10 of the 14 X2 countries, the unlimited calling covers landlines only | Billed like any other international call |
| Everything else | Out-of-zone and premium-rate numbers are billed per minute | Billed per minute by destination, or through an unlimited add-on |
| Local numbers abroad | Availability varies by country. Ask 8x8 sales | A strength, but each local number abroad carries its own monthly charge |
The practical test: count the people who call outside the US and Canada every week. If it is a handful, putting just those users on 8x8 X4 or buying a Vonage international bundle for them is usually cheaper than moving the whole company up a tier.
Neither provider puts a real contact center inside its phone plans. Both license it per agent. Neither publishes a price for it, so both have to be quoted.
| Area | 8x8 | Vonage |
|---|---|---|
| How it is sold | X6 to X8 tiers of the same X Series platform, priced per agent | Vonage Contact Center, a separate product, priced per agent |
| What it adds | Agent queues, skills-based routing, omnichannel and workforce management | A full contact center product on its own license |
| Queues on the phone plan | Contact center queues start at X6 | Call queues arrive with the Advanced tier above Premium |
| Published price | Quote based | Quote based |
One negotiating point applies to both. Agent licenses carry the margin, so quoting the contact center alongside the phone seats makes those seats far more negotiable.

A small team that works from the apps and only calls the US and Canada saves real money on Vonage Mobile. A team that needs video, a full auto attendant or calls into Europe is comparing 8x8 X2 against Vonage Premium, and X2 lists lower at every size. Past about 100 seats, 8x8's published rate drops below both Vonage plans. Get both quoted before you decide, because the negotiated numbers land much closer together than the list numbers do.

It depends on seat count and on which plans you compare. Vonage lists Mobile at $19.99 and Premium at $29.99 per user per month at every seat count. 8x8 lists X2 at $28 per user at 1 to 5 seats, falling to $17 at 500 or more, and X4 at $57 falling to $38. Under 100 seats, Vonage Mobile is the lowest list rate if nobody needs video, desk phones or a CRM. Against Vonage Premium, 8x8 X2 lists lower at every seat count, and from 101 seats X2 lists below even Vonage Mobile.
Yes, and this is the biggest difference between the two. 8x8's own help center says X2 includes unlimited calling within 14 countries and X4 within 48, subject to its fair-use policy. For 10 of the 14 countries on X2 that covers landlines only. Vonage Mobile and Premium include unlimited calling to the US and Canada, and calls abroad are billed per minute or through an unlimited add-on.
Both sell the contact center as a separate per-agent license rather than a phone plan upgrade. 8x8 sells it as the X6 to X8 tiers of the same X Series platform. Vonage sells Vonage Contact Center as its own product, and call queues on the phone side sit on the Advanced tier above Premium. Neither publishes a contact center price, so get both quoted.
